Sometimes people do not want to see magic. Only
perform when you are asked to, preferably more than
once. Remember that line from a Somerset Maugham
short story: "'Do you like card tricks?,' he asked. 'No,' I
replied. He did five." Even if your audience is anxious to
see you do magic, don't wear out your welcome.
Remember the first rule of Vaudeville "Always leave
them wanting more." In magic, as in all the arts, "Less is
more."
